Summary

The F-131 Star Phoenix was launched in 2502 alongside the F-114b Star Falcon II and F-115 Star Cruiser, establishing Star Force's famous fighter trifecta of the early 26th century.

Phoenixes were intended to be better dogfighters than Star Falcons, with lighter mass, narrower profiles, and more traditionally aggressive airframes, ideally increasing their survivability in fighter-on-fighter engagements. Like the Falcons, they are versatile platforms capable of a wide range of operations.

While flight dynamics differed between the two, scientific performance revealed insignificant practical difference between the Phoenix and Falcon platforms. Where the Phoenix gained an edge was favorability, however; to many, it was the best looking of Star Force's new fighters.

Armed with two powerful MP1200 phasers, four MP750s, a torpedo launcher, and mounts for additional external weapons (commonly loaded with single-use bombs and rockets), the Star Phoenix was a formidable fighter. It was succeeded by the F-131b Star Phoenix II in 2505 (at this point it was retroactively reclassified F-131a Star Phoenix I).
