Summary
The Undine War was a brief conflict from late 2484 to early 2485 between Star Fleet's 9th Division and a marauding force of rogue Undine bioships. The conflict lasted for three months and ended after the main Undine fleet was destroyed in the final battle.
History
On 15 December 2484, a rogue fleet of thirty Undine bioships attacked the Federation's Legola IV colony and devastated the entire planetary system. The first Star Fleet vessel to respond to Legola and battle the Undine was USS Talmidon, which successfully diverted and destroyed three bioships before being crippled. After the battle, it was towed back to Alpha Centauri Fleet Yards by USS Generations.
By the end of the month, Star Fleet directed Talmidon to lead the 9th Division, forming the anti-Undine armada. In the following skirmishes, the armada experimented with various weapons tech against the Undine ships, ultimately finding torpedoes modified with Borg Nanoprobes to be the most effective.
Subsequent battles generally ended in Star Fleet victories, until towards the end of the conflict, when the Undine fleet was reinforced with an additional sixty bioships. By March 2485, the 9th Division had lost 16 ships and 24 were critically damaged.
On 21 March, a scouting party led by Talmidon chanced upon the entire Undine fleet, which attacked. The Star Fleet force was no match for the Undine ships. In order to win the battle, Talmidon was sacrificed in a massive warp core breach that destroyed almost all of the Undine fleet, ultimately ending the war.
Space Pirate Connection
Captain Talmid reported observing persons of Space Pirate allegiance commanding the Undine vessels in the final battle. It is believed that the rogue Undine fleet was somehow commandeered by those Space Pirates, and the entire war was a revenge plot by the Space Pirates against the Federation.
