This story is very pleasing to read. The two acts are very distinct, with a steady flow and fun characters in both. Benedict seems a cool guy. I think over the years there ought to be some crew changes, maybe even a new captain, that would have further enforced Mortimer's commitment over time while the rest of the characters carry on with their lives, but that's my only criticism. Wonderful to read another story of yours.
