I'm going to reply in Reverse order: -Concerning Perry: Yes. Peragrine has caused a lot of destruction. If I ever get to write the story I have planned between this and when they arrive at the Moorlands, you'll see he's not unscathed. But actually, a fair bit of that damage to the gate was *not* Perry... ;)
- Concerning Tain: Yes. I'm afraid I am all too aware of the bending and/or blanding of Tain's character in the second half. One reason for that was, due to focusing on the others, we couldn't get into Tain's head, which is where literally all of Tain's subtle action is at. Add to that the fact that we have a predetermind fate for both characters... And I sadly had to make sure it all ends in a stalemate. Though, it appears, it's a bittersweet and tasty stalemate, so there's that!  I really do try to take writing Tain seriously, as I still consider him your character on an indefinite loan, so I know that I've got a Screentime/Motivational/Character Building deficit on him right now! :P
-Concering Carson: Speaking of Screentime deficits, once Sara mentioned she wanted to 'save' Carson, I knew we had an entirely different story on our hands. One which I was both terrifiend and estatic to try and write. I'm so happy how it turned out, and glad that it nailed it for you too! As for why Carson and Sara make such quick friends... Well, the main reason is that she's giving him something for absolutely free. And not just any little trinket or thing, but like, a whole new life. And as part of a whole new life, he very nearly became a whole new person. Carl.  Does it make it Better or Worse that I'm sad about it too? :P
-Once again, stunned that you enjoyed the character of Sara so much. This lady is extremely difficult to write, difficult to understand, and difficult to keep track of. :P Which is hilarious, since my sis Sara wrote pretty much every line of her dialouge. There were a few spots that other readers in the family said it didn't make sense, and Sara and I would talk about it.... A lot of those stayed in, and now I'm glad for it.
-Yeah...? Surely he's heard it during his time in the military! :P
-The Mayor's name is... Actually, should I reveal that now? (Sara: "I don't see why not!") Allright. The mayor's full name is "Thatt Guy."
-One of the moments that was a bit off at first... but we kept it. :D
-*facepalm* I mean.... When you have two sisters who are both very specific about their favorite horse breeds, patterns, and colors... :P I mean, YEAH, N_B, GET CRACKIN'. T'would be a fabulous treat.
