The forums will be retired at some point but all the content will be moved to a Discussions version, so I guess it's not too bad.
What is it with people retiring perfectly good forums?! That's annoying. But at this point we're practically pros at adapting to these kinds of platform changes, so like you said it's not too bad. I still like these forums better than "discussions" though. :P
