Hmm. Interesting. Now, that the story's here in its completion I can say that I really liked it, but I feel there's some gap between the described events and the punchline. Perhaps, you meant stunting one's growth metaphorically, but it just didn't seem obvious enough. And struggling to understand the linking threads between the parts of a joke, kill the joke. The story overall was very good, though.
