Counter theory: What if thedude was actually talking to his Paradox Rogue sorcerers, but the sorcerers from the Sorcer's Council heard thedude's command and thought he was talking to them. The sorcerers thought to themselves "Well, I guess we're helping thedude now." After all, teaming up with thedude would be beneficial as they shared a common enemy, so the sorcerers accepted the opportunity that thedude extended to them to become his allies, or so they thought. Later on, confusion ensues when thedude doesn't recognize their "alliance" because he never intended it in the first place.
Yes, obviously this wasn't intended when we wrote the story, but it would explain it quite nicely. :P
