I had originally thought, like Strider and Talmid, that the curse only affected electricity, or other similar power sources. However, I also thought that Imagination and Maelstrom, the power sorces for the Nexus Force and Paradox Rogues, would be inhibited as well. Yes, the paradox rogue gear has a tendancy to always work, but I recall a few times when it failed, and the reason for this failure was implied to be the curse. As such, I would argue that the paradox rogue gear working is because the anti-technology curse had started to fade since the death of the original sorcerer, and not because Maelstrom and Imagination are somehow exempt from the curse. This idea would mean that simple machines, such as a can opener or a catapult, would work, because their source of power is human labor, not electricity. However, the problem with this idea is that it would mean that regular guns would function perfectly fine, as they do not use electricity, and I doubt that would fit in with what we intend with the anti-tech curse.

Alternatively, the curse could interfere with any technology that contains materials that originated outside of the Morcian planet. For example, a musket would function proberly on the planet, but only if the wood, metal, and powder all originated from the planet. The more materials used in the weapon that originated from another planet, the more likely the weapon is to fail. I personally like this idea because it would allow for some progress in Morcia beyond whatever machines they had when the sorcer was alive, but it is still intended to prevent outside technology from interfering or accelerating that progress. It would meet fffffplayer's concern about "wish magic" as well. Even if the sorcerers do not understand how the technology works, they understand the basic difference between materials that originated in their land, and materials that were brought there from eleswhere.

Because all of the materials must be taken from the planet for the tech to work, tech such as basic muskets would be quite rare, and subsequently valuable. Of course, if you wanted to purchase such a musket, you would have to becareful who you bought it from, as scammers would likely sell you an imported musket from some other planet and falsely advertize it as "100% Morcian material." After you paid a fortune for the musket, it would quickly fail on you, and the person who sold it to you would be long gone. :P

Lastly, I still think that Imagination and Maelstrom energies should be affected by the curse, as they originate outside of the Morcian planet. In my own headcanon, the curse was what prevented maelstrom from taking over hte planet as it did with countless others, after Maelstrom was introduced to and spread across the planet by the rogues. Perhaps as the curse continues to wear off (if it even does continue ot wear off, of course) Maelstrom could begin to spread more easily.

In short, despite originally thinking of the curse as "anti-electricity," after giving it some thought, I think it would be "anti-material that did not originate from the Morcian planet."

P.S. I know that "the Morcian planet" isn't the correct name for the planet, but I forgot what its name was and I'm too lazy to look it up. :P
