That makes sense to me.  So magical new tech is accepted, while electrical tech (in your specific example, from outside the planet) is denied.  Or at least undermined.  Makes me wonder if electrical tech developed by Militiregnumites is also banned?

Also I don't remember if the curse only effects the western kingdoms (Morcia,Ankoria,Aquila,Britay,Elepharia,Souther,Isles) or does it influence all of Militiregnum.

@ Wiz: (because I don't want to quote that whole thing) Yes, my wording is off. When I say tech, I mean... hardware. The actual mechanics. I don't think that the curse should affect the physical things of technology, such as a wheel, or a catapult. Only the power sources, if any, of these things. So, for example, concerning your (very humorous) idea of a Wizard and a computer, he would not be able to 'hack' it, as you say, but instead stop, choke, or otherwise incapacitate the power source in it: electricity.

I want to note that 'wishing magic', is something I very much like, but is hard to balance, but I see your point of view. :P

As for the 'energy ban' I understand that is too broad a term. I almost thing that it should be limited to electricity, because that, in and of itself takes out alot, and most alternative sources (nuclear, solar, geothermal) are turned into it before use anyway. If we try to make the curse affect more than Electricity, it would have to be something that avoids ALL the various branches of magic, including alchemy, as well as Imagination, and Maelstrom, which is present in Wormholers, which seem to always work. (?!) :P (also, that makes me wonder why there's been no maelstrom breakout yet! BOOK 4 MATERIAL!) as all of those are other power/energy sources present on Militeregnum.  The only way I can tell how to figure that our would be to figure out EXACTLY what the parameters of the Sorcerer's spell was.  And we may need to do that anyway, if his apprentice knew it.... Unless he doesn't, in which case, it can remain a mystery forever, since the spell is on the fritz at this time in the story anyway.

As a final note, concerning a power source other than electricity, I suggest that Imagination, Maelstrom, and Magic Energy ARE other power sources, and these are notably not stopped. I suppose I would be fine if thedude's scientists found a power source (like perhaps Turbo Energy from Max Steel) that circumnavigated the curse.Â
