Politics
Ramiara is an ally of Kolhestra
Shakara is an ally of Chanora
Julriltan is an ally of Kolhestra
Etrlara is an ally of Chanora
Chanora and Kolhestra are tense with each other.
Shakara and Kolhestra are one insult from war.
Etrlara is attempting to keep them at peace.
Ramiara is pushing for a war, and even has threatened violent actions.
The C.O.D is attempting to keep the peace, and is an inch from expelling Kolhestra from the Council. The C.O.D has expelled Ramiara from the council
Dianara is currently being ignored by all except Chanora, with the politics of one system gaining more attention than Dianara itself.
Prologue
Â
Theo stared blankly at the concrete wall. He was in a large room, sitting on a simple folding chair. The wall itself was cracked and dirty, and the room was filled with armed men bustling about.Â
Â
After a moment, James walked up behind him. "Theo, this is all there is."
Â
"How is it that in one day, the entire Chanoran empire became confined to some random old C.O.D base?" Theo burst out angrily. "WHO GAVE IT THAT RIGHT?"
Â
"It doesn't care about rights, Theo. It does what it wants. That's its purpose."
Â
"BUT HOW?" All the people turned towards him for a moment, then continued what they were doing.
Â
"It's a very long story."Â
Â
Chanora
1 day earlier
Â
"James!" Bejamin Thomas, a man in a simple suit with a gold and blue tie yelled. "We need to talk!"
Â
James groaned. "Raschlaman" Â he muttered under his breath. "Yes sir." He added out loud.
Â
Benjamin's office contained a large, ornate wooden desk, covered in electronic devices and various papers. On one side was a large leather arm chair, on the other, two simple wooden ones. On the desk was a plaque, stating : "Benjamin Thomas; C.O.D Chairman". James sat in one of the simple chairs, while Ben leaned back in his own leather one. "James," He stated "We both know what this is about, so I'll keep it quick. You can keep your Walther, but nothing else." Thomas handed James a small, pink piece of paper. "Now get out of my office."
Â
James stood up, and stated one thing. "Tell Joseph that I know who really made this call." With that, he exited the room, slamming the door.Â
Â
"Oh, and also!" He suddenly reopened the door. "Leo will love to hear about this one. Great move, Thomas."Â
Â
Â
Chanora
Capital of the K.O.T.S.KÂ
Â
As James walked down the street, muttering angrily under his breath, something whizzed past him on the road, causing him to jump. "WHAT IN THE...!?!?" He exclaimed, before the vehicle, a compact black sedan, slowed down and moved backwards. A door flew open, and O'Malley grinned at him from the inside.Â
Â
"HELLO!"
Â
"O'Malley, what did you do?"
Â
"What do you mean?"
Â
"You're driving really fast, and I'm pretty sure I hear sirens." James paused for a moment, before continuing. "Yep, those are definitely sirens. So, what did you do?" There was a dull thud, and a flash in the general area of the nearest military compound.Â
Â
"Well, you know those impact detonated hand grenades you people made?"Â
Â
"Yes?"Â
Â
"Well," O'Malley frowned. "You really shouldn't invite me to your bases and have them in plain sight."Â
Â
"What did you do?"Â
Â
"Well, um, I wanted to know what they were, so I was pressing the button on one. Eventually I got angry and threw it at the others when it didn't do anything."
Â
"You were pressing the fuse delay button, weren't you."Â
Â
"Maybe."
Â
"You knew exactly what those were."
Â
"Um...yeah." O'Malley grinned. "Hey, they'll be fine once they rebuild."
Â
"O'Malley! YOU COST THE C.O.D BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!" James paused, and smiled. "But hey, that's not my problem anymore. The ahrslor who took my job gets to deal with cleanup."Â
Â
"What?" O'Malley stared at James. "They fired you?"
Â
"Yep." James stated in reply, and O'Malley slammed his hands against the steering wheel of his car in anger.
Â
"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" He swore violently. "YOU WERE THE ONLY NICE PERSON THERE!"Â
James groaned. "O'Malley, tolerating your idiotic insanity is not nice, it's being soft on you! Things are getting bad, so either you can mature, or you can leave Chanora, because things are getting bad!"
Â
"What do you mean?" O'Malley recoiled at James's attack. "What do you mean getting bad?"
Â
"I mean Dianara."
Â
"What's that?"
Â
"Ask Simmons." James turned and walked away. "It's not my job anymore."
Ramiara
One man left a small device in the Congress meeting place, a large ornate wooden room. He placed it on a table in the center, and watched as it shimmered and disappeared. His suit was blue, with golden pin-stripes. His hair was brown, and on his side he carried a Walther P99 compact. He grinned slightly, then disappeared in a vortex of energy with a slight whoosh.
Â
RamiaraÂ
Present day
Â
As the Congress streamed in, there was a slight beeping from the central table where the C.O.D representatives would be sitting. The noise intensified and became faster, catching attention of the people present. And then, within a second, there was a massive explosion. The Congress building's windows shattered, and eventually the walls exploded outwards, smashing surrounding buildings. Fairly quickly, sirens sounded, approaching the crater left in the ground, and the massive dust cloud.
Â
Thus began the first interplanetary war. Indeed, it would be discovered that the Kolhestrans, former allies of Ramiara, had started the war. Almost immediately, the C.O.D condemned this attack. The Shakarans remained neutral, Chanora allied itself with Ramiara, and Julritan helped Kolhestra. This war would have a massive effect, and eventually lead to the destruction of the C.O.D itself, the largest inter-dimensional organization in history.
Â
And Dianara grinned. Well, it would have if it had lips. As it was, it merely took great pleasure in the impending chaos.
Chanora
Unemployed Alley
Â
James gazed down the dark and dirty street. On the roadsides, homeless figs lay about, while the occasional car passed through. From his left, James saw the breeze of one such vehicle blow a paper into his face. He grabbed it quickly, and was disappointed immediately. It was not a help wanted ad, but rather an ad requesting employment. "What the brick is Kotos?" He muttered, throwing aside the paper.Â
Â
When he passed a smaller back-alley, he noticed the tiniest of signs, stating "Help wanted!" With interest, he turned and walked warily, reaching into his jacket to draw a Walther P99. To his right was a door with a faint light emanating from it, to his left was a garbage bin, and in the back of the alley was a large dumpster. James sighed, and knocked on the door. From inside came a clattering noise, and a man cried "Tim! Make yourself useful and answer the blasted door, you worthless lay-about!"Â
Â
"Fine!" Another replied, and the door swung open. James tensed up and pointed his pistol, finding himself staring down the barrel of a similar weapon.Â
Â
"Drop it." He sternly commanded. The person on the other end, dressed in overalls and a small hat, began trembling and dropped his gun with a clatter. James kept his Walther leveled on the minifigure in overalls, and slowly picked up the weapon. "Glock 19?" James remarked. "Isn't that a little low powered for this neighborhood?" James removed the magazine and locked the slide of the handgun back, ejecting a cartridge, then handed it back to the fig. "So, I'm here about a job. I saw you were offering?"
Â
Behind the fig in overalls came a white-haired fig, in a suit and tie. This older individual groaned. "Disarmed again Tim? I don't even know why I keep you here." He turned towards James. "Hello. My name is Thomas Van Wellworth. I apologize for Timothy's incompetence. Now, won't you come in and have a cup of tea?"
Â
Chanora
Dwelling of Thomas Van Wellworth
Â
"Now, I must inquire about your past, good sir." Van Wellworth stated to James. They were sitting in an ornate wooden room, in classical chairs; in front of them was a table with two cups of tea. "First, what is your name? Second, your methodology in disarming Timothy implies you possess military training, where did you previously work?"
Â
"My name is James Walters. I previously worked for the C.O.D, before, well, an underling took my job." James sat back casually, keeping his hand on his pistol constantly.
Â
"A pity. What exactly was your position?"
Â
"Director of Military Division." James replied, keeping a perfectly straight face.
Â
Van Wellworth burst out laughing. "What a sense of humor! But really, what was your position?" James merely threw him a business card. Van Wellworth examined it, then swore softly.
Â
"I was not joking, Mr. Van Wellworth."Â
Â
"I can see that now, James. I apologize." Van Wellworth smiled. "I think I could find work for you here," He handed James a small business card, reading 'Van Wellworth (CCI)'. "Now, let's discuss the details of your employment."
Â
"Yes, lets. Thomas, why do you want a military expert?"
Â
"Simple. I have a very complicated business. I work for the Chanoran government, in counter-intelligence. Now, a man with your skills would be very useful in the current conflict."
Â
"Current conflict?"
Â
"The Kolhestrans are at war with Ramiara. We have sided with Ramiara. We need soldiers."Â
Â
"If you need soldiers, why me? I'm not in the business of choosing sides in inter-planetary conflicts, as you full well know." James gripped his weapon more tightly, slowly flicking off the safety, covering the sound by speaking. "In fact, if you were Chanoran counter-intelligence, you would know exactly who I am. Â You knew I was no longer in the C.O.D, but you didn't know for how long, so you acted as though I couldn't possibly have been the director of Mil-Div. Would have given you credibility in a few years, not now. "Â
"What are you implying, James?" Thomas asked, reaching into his jacket. James smiled.
Â
"Simple. You are trying to manipulate me. Also, your accent is very close, but more Kolhestran than Chanoran. Nice try though. Now," James openly aimed his weapon at Tim, who had come from the side. "I need to find a friend. Good day." With that, James shot Tim, smashing him. Van Wellworth drew a handgun and fired twice, but James disappeared rapidly in a swirl of energy and with a whoosh.
Â
Both shots caused wood shards to fly from the wall, but James was unscathed. Van Wellworth sighed, and stood himself up. "Well, blast."

Five minutes ago
Â
"HEY! LOOK AT WHAT I FOUND!" One rank 1 Daredevil cried, causing the nearby rank 2 Ranger to look over.Â
Â
"What is it? Also, don't press any buttons on it!"Â
Â
"Hey look, a big, red, button! I'll press it!"
Â
"That's not gonna end..." There was a loud bang, and the daredevil was sent flying into a wall. "...well."
Â
"Ow..." The daredvil groaned, and lifted himself up. "In retrospect, maybe you were right. But hey, maybe something different will happen if I press it again!" The daredevil ran towards the console again, and slammed the button, only to be hurled against a wall.
Â
"You are literally Einstein's definition of insanity." Commented a Rank 3 engineer from the side, shaking his head.Â
Â
The daredevil shook his head rapidly. "Brrr." He paused, and processed what the engineer said. "I'm not insane!" He cried suddenly. "I'm just a daredevil."
Â
"Which is contrary to my statement how?" Inquired the engineer.Â
Â
With that, there was a snapping sound, and James appeared. "Hello!" He yelled. The three figs recoiled, then began to run.Â
Â
"It's a ghost!"
Â
James sighed. "I have no idea what's with these people." With that, he ran down the hall, hoping to eventually reach one particular room, #817. When he did, he grinned, then slammed the doorbell repeatedly. Inside, there was a shuffling sound, a few crashes.
Â
"Hold your horses, I'm coming!" Cried a voice from inside. James held in a laugh as there were more thuds, occasional swearing, and eventually Theo reached the door, swinging it open. "Who in the..." He paused, and then groaned. "James, I have enough psychopaths here as it is. O'Malley's rambling about blowing up a C.O.D base, Simmons is trying to cause nuclear fission..."
Â
"FUSION!" Simmons yelled from inside.
Â
"Sorry, nuclear fusion in his room, and Jeffy, well...he found some Oreos." There was a loud thud, and a scream of 'COOKIES!' from inside. Theo face-palmed. "My point is, you picked the worst time to come."Â
Â
"I HAVE ACHIEVED FUSION!"
Â
"Oh dear lord."Â
Â

Â
After his shout, Simmons was thrown through a doorway by a small explosion. He groaned as he landed on the floor, and lay there. James stared for a few seconds, then continued the conversation. âTheo, itâs about Dianara. Also, can someone tell me HOW THE BRICK OâMALLEY GOT HERE?!?!â
Â
âFine.â Theo replied. He walked over to where Simmons was, and helped him up.
Â
Simmons began to ramble crazily. âI almost had stable fusion! OâMalley left some uranium dust in my plutonium chamber and didnât clean it up!â
Â
âOk, letâs not resort to assigning blame, Simmons. Honestly, for someone with such high intelligence, your relationship with OâMalley is quite juvenile.â James remarked. âOh and, again, how DID THAT IDIOT GET HERE?â
Â
âHe came here via Uber.â Theo replied. âJames, we have space ships that can travel over several galaxies in about a year, is it that shocking that we have a space taxi app?â
Â
âWell, I guess not. I just assumed a 21st century Earth company wouldnât be around in this galaxy of all places.â
Â
"Well, I can't really argue with you about that one." Theo sighed. "I'd offer you something to drink, but O'Malley uses the fridge for chemical storage. I'd give you some food, but Jeffy ate it all while looking for cookies. And I can't really give you anywhere to sleep. There are landmines in O'Malley's room, nuclear experiments in Simmons', and I don't have my own, because of an incident with O'Malley and some acid, so I sleep on the sofa."
Â
James paused for a moment. "Well...um...I don't know what to say to that. How about we go and find somewhere to talk where things aren't exploding."
Â
"I'm all good with that."Â

âSo, James,â Theo asked, taking a bite of a hamburger. âHow did you find me?â
Â
âSimple. I just asked Exeter. Heâs honest to a fault.â James looked over his shoulder, checking if anyone was listening. âNow, I hate to say this, but we canât be social. Do you know what the word âDianaraâ means?â
Â
âItâs like a living crystal, right?â Theo set down the sandwich.
Â
James paused. âWell, yes. But do you know the meaning of the actual Chanoran word?â
Â
âNo. I donât speak ancient Chanoran, James. Itâs not my language.â Theo replied.
Â
âWell, it means Universal Death.â
Â
âWHAT?!?!?â Theo jumped.
Â
âWell, itâs a rough translation. It's more accurate to say Destruction rather than Death.â
Â
âThose sound the same to me.â Theo remarked dryly.
Â
âNot really. In ancient Chanoran, Destruction is a synonym for a word you are quite familiar with: âChaosâ.â Jamesâs face darkened suddenly, and he became deadly serious. âLet me make one thing absolutely clear: Whatever weâre dealing with is a lot more complicated than a simple crystal.â
Â
"James, even if it is the Maelstrom, the Nexus Force has advanced. They can't come back, and even if they did, we would win in a few hours."Â
Â
"You aren't the only ones able to evolve. The Maelstrom is chaotic. It sometimes evolves slowly, and sometimes changes rapidly over a few years of hiding. We're in a very dangerous stage of time. The Mythran histories we recovered show a dangerous cycle, and we're near a return. Whatever they have will be greater than all that came before, I can tell you that."
Â
"You're being cliché." And with that, the door of the food plaza blew out in an explosion.Â
Â
"What was that again?" James asked, drawing his handgun.Â
Â
"Oh just be quiet and shoot them!" Theo replied, drawing his own sidearm.
Â
The C.O.D Council Room
Â
Uproar is hardly the right word to describe the state of the council. The representatives of each planet were all calling out condemnations of Ramiara and Kolhestra alike, and the only thing preventing them from physical violence was the large amount of security. The council room itself was not large, and the primary feature was a long table with seats for representatives of each planet in the Chanoran system. These seats went from left to right, starting closest to the sun and ending at the farthest. In front of this was a podium/desk, at which the C.O.D Primary chairman, and the directors of each division sat at. In the center was Benjamin, the Chairman. On his left was Joseph Rogers, the new Military Division Director, and on his right were two empty seats.
Â
Benjamin groaned, and eventually slammed his gavel onto his table. "ORDER! Now, will the Kolhestran representative come up and present his case?"
Â
"Of course." Replied a man in a simple black suit. His hair and eyes were also black, and under his jacket was a slight bulge on the left side. "Now, Ramiara was developing weapons in secret, designed, it appears, to counter our own. Therefore, we felt it justified to preemptively attack..."
Â
"We were developing no such weapons! You saw we had military power, and were worried we would surpass you, so you attacked us because of your own paranoia!" The Ramiaran representative replied.Â
Â
"If you do not have the patience to allow us to present our case, we see no reason to attend this council!" The Kolhestran stated, at which point he stormed out of the room.
Â
Benjamin stared out into space for a moment. "Well, that went well."

Â
With a massive sparking, a maelstrom bolt smacked into the overturned table James and Theo were hiding behind.Â
Â
"In retrospect, maybe we should have brought O'Malley." Theo commented.Â
Â
James fired twice over the table before he replied. "Naw, I have a plan." And with that, he tossed a grenade over the table. Once it exploded, he jumped over the table and started firing rapidly, hitting and smashing several stromlings. However, three mechs walked over the bricks and began firing bursts of energy into the room. Resteraunts exploded, walls were scorched into melted plastic, and alarms everywhere began blaring.Â
Â
"You've got to be kidding me!" Theo exclaimed. He fired three rounds, but his bullets bounced off harmlessly.Â
Â
"I told you they'd come back better!" James yelled.
Â
"OH BE QUIET!" Theo retorted.
Â
Ramiara
Orbital station 34
Â
As the random passerby gazed out the window, he saw a missile passing by, followed by several more. He then decided to pass by, and popped out of that area of the universe. At this point, there was a flash from the planet Ramiara, and the surface shattered.
Â
Fairly quickly, the planet exploded outward into a cloud of dust, which slowly, by its own gravity, came back to form around itself as a cloud of burnt matter. Thus ended the war between the Ramiarans and Kolhestrans, and began a very complicated situation. For the C.O.D could not allow a planet which was responsible for the destruction of another to go unpunished.Â
Â
This was an unprecedented move, which was quickly followed by another attack, this one destroying Etrlara. This was countered with the destruction of Kolhestra by the C.O.D. This meant that many planets began to turn against the C.O.D. Even Chanora turned against it. Indeed, eventually the unity of the thousands of galaxies was...destroyed entirely.

Â
As the Mechs fired at James, he was forced to duck behind a vendor's counter, while plasma ripped apart various structures. Plastic flew everywhere, and alarms continued to blare. At this point, several Nexus Force soldiers from various factions busted through the doors, and opened fire. This did not exactly work for them. Their shots, varying from lead to arrows to plasma rounds, all bounced the mechs, who then returned fire. They were far more effective.Â
Â
"James, we can't hold them!" Theo cried over the commotion.
Â
James lunged over the counter of the vendor, as it exploded behind him. He slid into cover with Theo, rather like a baseball player slides onto the plate. "Agreed. We need to get everyone out of here."
Â
"Well, yes," Theo remarked, "That's obvious. I was going to ask how we do that?"
Â
James chucked a smoke grenade over the table. "Follow me, and I'll show you." And with that, he stood up, and began yelling orders. "Hey you lot, with the fancy guns! It's not working! We need to fall back. Throw some flashes and smokes, it should disorient them and throw off their thermal sensors long enough for us to escape!"Â
Â
The soldiers gazed at him oddly, before Theo reassured them. "He's on our side! Just do it, then move!" He turned to James. "Where to?"
Â
"Shuttle bay. We leave, and we do it quickly. You get the Leaders, make sure they help us. Also, try to see if Simmons has some ridiculous contraption that can help us."
Â
"Gotcha." Theo ran off. James turned back to the soldiers.Â
Â
"Alright, you lot. Run off to the shuttles! I'll seal the doors. Also, tell anyone you see to follow you. MOVE!"
Â

Â
As the Nexus Force soldiers rushed from the plaza in dis-array, James calmly exited, chucked in a flash bang, then closed the door, locking it with the key pad next to it. At this point, he thought for a moment, then rushed down the hallway to the left, hoping to gain access to the armory. Unfortunately, he ran into a stromling pack, and was forced to open fire. He shot three of five, punched one of the remaining two, and dropped a grenade into the ribcage of another. The explosion smashed both, and also drew the attention of any nearby Maelstrom soldiers.
Â
And nearby Maelstrom units were more than happy to convene upon him. He had to rush down several corridors to make it to the armory, but his search was not in vain. In the room were racks full of rifles, a crate of grenades, shelves of side-arms, boxes of ammo, and countless varieties of blades. "Well, this could be helpful."Â
Â
And with that comment, James jumped into action. He made a rather large mess, digging through all the weapons, but eventually found what he was looking for. A long, thick, nondescript, tube with a trigger and a top feeding magazine containing large cylinders, as well a sight at an angle. "This WILL be helpful!" James grinned, and turned the safety off.Â
Â
Dianara
Â
Concerning the effect of entropy on Dianara: it requires some understanding of science. Entropy refers to the energy that is consumed by creatures, and therefore, lost. However, energy that is lost to entropy is not lost forever. It goes to one location. This location is Dianara. Every time a rabbit jumps, a rooster crows, a duck quacks, a goose does, well, whatever those nasty monsters do, it gains energy. Thus, it is, to say the least, dangerous. It possesses a greater sum of energy than any creature can imagine.
Â
Now, at this point, one may wonder why this chapter of a Chanoran History book has the word 'Morcia' in its title, being as Morcians have never been on Chanora. While this is true, Chanorans from the C.O.D have indeed visited Morcia covertly, and as such, the one (Chanora) has much knowledge of the other (Morcia). This is what led James Walters to in about five hours after the previous chapter to decide to go there for help.
Â
Now we return to the aforementioned moron, and examine his status.
Â
Nimbus Station
Corridors
Â
To Theo's right was a large mech, and to his left a pack of stromlings. Behind him was a spiderling, and in front was some strange beast beyond the greatest nightmares of minifigures. Its face was a contorted mass of bricks, it stood on three legs, and had large spikes on its body at random intervals. Quoth Theo: "This is a problem..."
Â
Quoth James: "This is a solution!" Theo jumped as to his right, behind the mech, James yelled before firing a large tubular weapon. The mech exploded, its bricks showering down on Theo, who began to run.
Â
James fired again, this time hitting the large beast. It reacted merely with annoyance, and shrieked in anger. "Oh, well, that didn't work. RUN!"Â
Â
Theo and James both began to scramble as fast as they could, followed by the strange beast. They ran through a doorway into a room with a holo-projector, and quickly closed the door with one of the four panels ringed around the holoprojector. They then noticed four people, one in blue, one in green, one in orange, and one in red.Â
Â
Duke Exeter paused, before speaking. "James, um...not to be rude, but weren't you officially banned from coming here?"
Â
James thought for a moment. "I'm here anyways. Deal with it."
Â
