Just putting this here so I can link to it from another website.
I present to you all:
How to download specific LMB threads using HTTrack and URL Generator
You must know the following two things:
1. Full url of an LMB thread, looks like this: https://community.lego.com/t5/CLASSICS/Imagination-Infection-amp-A-Six-Sided-Fate-Stories-Topic/td-p/14026011
2. Total pages of that thread, eg. 19.
Download Two Programs
1. HTTrack @ http://www.httrack.com/page/2/ see the top two versions, 32 and 64 bit.
2. URL Generator @ http://www.spadixbd.com/freetools/urlgen.htm see the download button- I'll just link it here: http://www.convertjunction.com/download/urlgen.zip
Install HTTrack and unzip Urlgen.
1. Open HTTtrack, make a project name like "LMBA" or something, hit next.
2. Get to this window and proceed to the next step:
3. Open URL Generator. Come to this Window.
In the "Main URL" put the full url of the LMB thread with /page/ added to the end of it, looking like this:
In the next inputs leave the first and third blank. Put "2" in the second input, and the full number of pages eg. "19" in the last input. Click "Start" and you should have a bunch of pages looking like this:
Click on the links, select all of them, and press Ctrl+C to copy them to clipboard.
4. Open Notepad. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the urls into the document. Because of the LMB format, you want to see these links:
https://community.lego.com/t5/CLASSICS/Imagination-Infection-amp-A-Six-Sided-Fate-Stories-Topic/td-p/14026011 (without the /page/*)
and all of the
Now add all the threads and pages you want to this text file. Mind you it WILL get long so you can decrease the font size.
5. Go back to HTTrack. Click on the button next to "URL list (.txt):" Navigate to your .txt full of all those links and add it.
Looks like this now -> ->
Click Next and Finish to start downloading everything.
This process WILL take a VERY LONG time, depending on how many pages are being downloaded. Also be VERY CAREFUL when trying to add more threads to the archive. Make sure it's set to "Update" at HTTrack's second window or else it might delete everything else you downloaded before that is not mentioned now. Or something like that.
It may be safer to put those in a different output folder and then later you can merge the archives on your own. This is probably the safest method. ð
Then look for a .html with a name like this highlighted one:
This is the first page of your downloaded and now fully offline version of your thread!!!! If you have successfully downloaded all the pages, then the "Previous" and "Next" buttons will work to browse the range of pages of your thread.
This is how to fully download offline versions of SPECIFIC Lego Messageboards threads and all of their pages.
Credit to Samlooploop for her Imagination Infection thread being the example used here, and the Knights of the Old Speech for the Additional Manuscripts thread.
