Part of a series of battles in the Maelstrom War.

Summary

By 3026, spaceborne Maelstrom had reached worlds beyond the Crux System in the Kadrus Galactic Core. One priority target was Elistra III, already the landing site of a Maelstrom Shard that crashed on the world in 3019, generating a sizable force of Darklings by the time spaceborne forces arrived and began their attack on 15 February 3026.

Despite receiving Elistra's call for help, the overextended Nexus Force, barely holding on to its Crux fronts as they were and already fighting a civil war, could spare no forces to assist. Only a covert team of native Elistrans, led by Intrepid Fusion Eclipse, responded.

Arriving a week after the invasion had begun and much of Elistra already ravaged, the responders made their stand in Gosburg, staging the first effective resistance against the Maelstrom attack. This attracted the Maelstrom force's attention, causing all attacking forces to converge on Gosburg. Enduring dwindling supplies and mounting casualties, with ingenuity and perseverance the response team held off the entire Maelstrom attack force for another two weeks.

By this point, Sergeant Ghost Mustache succeeded to rally Nexus Force reinforcements of sufficient fighting force for deployment on Elistra, with Faction Leader approval. Consisting of an orbital attack formation and four landing platoons, the relief force succeeded to neutralize large swaths of the Maelstrom forces and begin retaking the outskirts. Both Intrepid's and Sergeant's teams met on 7 April 3026, with the survivors of the original response team sent back to Nimbus Station on this date.

The original response team was ultimately successful in diverting Maelstrom attention from the rest of the world's population areas, sparing them from destruction. Without their effort, there would have been nothing left for the eventual reinforcements to save.

Summary

By 3025, spaceborne Maelstrom had reached worlds beyond the Crux System in the Kadrus Galactic Core. One priority target was Elistra III, already the landing site of a Maelstrom Shard that crashed on the world in 3015, generating a sizable force of Darklings by the time spaceborne forces arrived and began their attack on 18 June 3025.

Despite receiving Elistra's call for help, the overextended Nexus Force, barely holding on to its Crux fronts as they were and already fighting a civil war, could spare no forces to assist. Within weeks, all population areas of the world had been overrun by the Maelstrom.

By the time a Nexus Force response team could be put together, there was nothing left to save. </tabber>
