They call themselves the Shadow Empire, using powerful tech to transfigure and repurpose Federation ships to their cause: galactic domination. On stardate 157543.72, the USS Guardian is rendezvousing with the USS Reliance to discuss how to proceed.
Part 1 - First Battle
"Guardian to Reliance, we are ready to begin."
"We hear you, Johnny." Captain Hayes of the Reliance responded.
"This new enemy, the Shadow Empire, our intel says they're coming in force." Johnny said.
"They pose a great threat to the our outermost colonies." Hayes described.
Before they could continue, two Imperial Shadow Falcon cruisers decloaked and opened fire.
"How did they find out so fast where we were?!" Johnny said. "Prepare to return fire, load torpedo bays."
"Aye sir!" said helmsman Ensign Jack.
"Phasers ready!" said Lt. Dave Barker from the tactical station.
"Fire!" The Guardian fired phasers on the port enemy vessel, but their shields held. Meanwhile, the Guardian shook violently as enemy torpedoes slammed its shields. The Reliance joined in with phasers but it was no match for the enemy ships' return fire, quickly taking damage.
"Torpedo bays loaded, sir." Dave said.
"Fire." Johnny said. The blue torpedoes streaked from the Guardian's launcher, slamming one enemy ship's but still being absorbed by the shields.
"Fire continuous stream of phasers with 2 quantum torpedoes." Johnny instructed.
"Firing." said Dave. Under the continued barrage the enemy ship's shields finally failed, allowing the torpedoes to strike. The enemy ship's hull fell apart in a violent explosion.
"The remaining vessel is coming in." Jack said. "They're firing."
"Brace!" Johnny said. The ship shook, sending some crew to the floor.
"The Reliance is being targeted at it's warp nacelles. If they blow, the explosion will disable many of our systems," a crewman said. "Not to mention killing their crew."
"Fire all weapons on the last ship." Johnny commanded. "We have to stop them."
Phasers, photon torpedoes, and quantum torpedoes all flew from the Guardian, blasting the enemy vessel so strongly it was knocked a few kilometers from it's original position, saving the Reliance.
"Their shields are down," reported weapons officer Lt. Cmdr. Tim.
"Fire a standard torpedo. That'll finish them." Johnny said.
"The Reliance has suffered many casualties," said radio officer Lt. Tony, "and 15 of their crew are dead."
"Send them our support teams and radio Star Fleet Command for reinforcements. Lock in a tractor beam and extend the shields, we will protect them from further attack," Johnny said. "That is one conversation gone wrong." he muttered.
Part 2 - A Day of Reckoning
"Report!" Johnny commanded. "I want a full sensor sweep of this area!"
"Sensors are picking up a large object, right ahead of us." Lt. Dave replied.
"Bring us within visual range. On screen." Johnny said.
"Aye sir." Lt. Tim said from the helm. "Yes sir." echoed Ensign Jack next to him.
The blurry image of a battle damaged Excelsior Class starship appeared on the screen. It's starboard warp nacelle crippled and it's saucer section devastated.
"Whoever did this did it fast. This starship should have been destroyed long ago." His First Officer Commander Gary Vermont said.
"Captain, we are reading a Borg vessel approaching us dead ahead." Jack said.
"Red alert. Ready transphasic torpedoes!" Johnny said.
"They are within range." Dave said.
"Fire." Johnny ordered.
A spread of transphasic torpedoes flew from under the Guardian and struck the Borg cube. It never had a chance to fire.
"Phew." Tim slumped into his chair, relieved. Many of his friends had been lost to Borg attacks.
"Another vessel has appeared." Jack said. "This time of Shadow Empire origin."
"Another! Take the same measures as before." Johnny said.
But this time they weren't ready. The enemy vessel, the Behemoth, fired even before it dropped out of warp. It's forward beam fully bypassed the Guardian's shields and began transforming the hull.
Behemoth was a Federation starship stolen by the Shadow Empire. Devastated and turned evil, the Behemoth now posed a threat to the Federation, especially with its transfiguration weapon.
The Guardian shook as it's hull buckled and it's color scheme turned to that of the Shadow Empire ships. They were transforming the ship itself, but not without damage.
"We've got hull breaches all over the ship!" Dave yelled as sparks flew from overloaded conduits.
Then Johnny thought of a plan. If the ship was being transformed to a Shadow Empire configuration, what about the weapons?
"Fire phasers." he said calmly.
"Firing."
A powerful red beam launched from the Guardian and cut deep into the Behemoth's hull, completely skipping its shields as well. Dave followed up with a spread of torpedoes which interrupted Behemoth's attack and splintered its compromised hull. Against Guardian's inadvertently upgraded weapons, the enemy was soon no longer a threat.
Part 3 - The Lexalians
"Captain Johnny Johnson's personal log, stardate 157551.92, the Guardian has been assigned to a task force to investigate unknown signals on the outskirts just outside of Federation territory. I feel, sort of weird. We could be the first people to make contact with a new alien race."
Johnny stepped into the bridge and sat down in his comfy suede chair.
"We're nearing the unknown vessels." Jack said.
"On screen." Johnny said.
The screen lit up, and 9 unknown and never seen before starships appeared. 3 of them appeared of be Battleships, while the other 6 as light fighters.
"Hail them, Mr. Dave." Johnny said.
"Yes sir." Dave acknowledged.
The face of a green skinned and innocent looking alien appeared.
"I am Captain Johnny Johnson of the Federation. Please explain why you are entering Federation space!" Johnny said.
The alien's antennas quivered and he looked nervous. "Um, we are, em, just exploring new space. We do not mean to be of any harm." the alien said nervously.
Johnny smiled. "I'm sorry if we frightened you," he said. "Perhaps we can discuss this in one of our starbases."
The alien's antennas stopped wiggling. "We would be honored. I am Major Alyorn of the Lexalian Government. Nice to meet Captain." the alien said.
"You too. See you at Star Base 17, we'll escort you." Johnny replied. Things were beginning to get better, he thought.
Part 4 - Invasion!
"Captain's personal log: Diplomatic talks between the Lexalian Government and the Federation Council have begun. It is nice to think we may soon have a new ally in these parts.
"Meanwhile, the Guardian has been sent on a scouting mission, in search of a rumored fleet of Shadow Empire ships. If a fleet of this size has truly been amassed, no one in this sector is safe."
"Captain, sensors are picking up a fleet, 50 lightyears away." Lt. Tex said.
"Move us in on an intercept course, on screen." Johnny said. Black space appeared on the screen. "Magnify."
Ships soon appeared on the screen. They didn't appear to be in a hurry.
"Ready phasers, load torpedo bays." Johnny said. "This could get ugly."
"Captain, two of the Dreadnoughts are breaking out of formation towards us." Jim said.
Johnny waited.
"Distance, 7300.4 megameters and decreasing." Jack said. "6000 megameters. They have locked weapons."
"Fire phasers, prepare anti-matter spread!" Johnny said.
Phasers fired while hull-smashing shells smashed the shields.
"Fire anti-matter spread!" Johnny barked.
Anti-matter breached the port Dreadnought's shields and a burst of phaser fire destroyed it, but their victory was short.
"Shields down to 13%!" Dave said.
The Guardian shook, throwing many crew to the floor.
"Shields are down."
"Get us out of here maximum warp!" Johnny said. As the Guardian turned away, Johnny saw the other ships turn towards Deep Space 5 and jump into warp. The Invasion had begun.
Part 5 - No Name Available
10 seconds later, the Guardian dropped out of warp from engine damage, right into a wall of Shadow Empire warships.
Johnny's eyes widened in fear as the enemy starships opened fire. Plating flew up from the floor, one of them hitting Johnny's head. He blacked out for a few seconds.
"Captain, anti-matter containments have burst, we'll have a warp core breach in at most 5 minutes!" Tim said shakily.
"Try and manoeuvre in a position that will destroy at least 50% of the ships in one run." Johnny said sadly.
"You're gonna ram them with US????" Tim exclaimed.
"You heard the Captain, do it." Gary said.
Tim turned around sulkily, then turned around. "Wait, 5 Legacies just dropped out of warp beside us, they are engaging the enemy."
"Well, tell them to get us out of here on my mark!" Johnny ordered quickly.
"Yes sir!"
"And set a course to ram the enemy ships like dominoes! Engage!" Johnny added.
"Ok sir." Tim said.
The damaged Guardian slid to left side of a Dreadoth Roul and charged it's engines.
"Get us out of here!" Johnny radioed to the nearest Legacy.
Just as the Guardian blasted forward, they were beamed aboard the other ship just in time. Its warp core overloaded, the Guardian exploded.
Part 6 - A New Ship
Captain Johnny Johnson, former captain of the USS Guardian, sat behind the helm of a type-6 shuttle. He liked flying, he said it 'sharpened his skills'.
He stared out of the window at the Galaxy Class starship sitting in the spacedock. As he passed the ship's saucer section, he read, "NCC-75094 A - USS Guardian."
He smiled as he piloted his shuttlepod towards one of the Guardian's hanger bays.
As he flew in closer, he noted that this ship was nearly completely identical to it's predecessor.
The shuttle slowly came to a stop in the hanger, where Commander Gary and Lt. Cmdr. Dave stood waiting for him.
"Beautiful ship, isn't it?" Gary said.
"Quiet so." Johnny said as he stepped out.
The three walked into one of the turbo-lifts.
"Deck 1." Johnny said. The doors closed and they shot up to the bridge.
Once there, the doors opened and Johnny stepped out, taking in the bridge of his new command.
So begins the voyages of the USS Guardian A.
