Chapter 1: Setting up for disaster

Chanora

1 day earlier

"James!" Bejamin Thomas, a man in a simple suit with a gold and blue tie yelled. "We need to talk!"

James groaned. "Raschlaman"  he muttered under his breath. "Yes sir." He added out loud.

Benjamin's office contained a large, ornate wooden desk, covered in electronic devices and various papers. On one side was a large leather arm chair, on the other, two simple wooden ones. On the desk was a plaque, stating : "Benjamin Thomas; C.O.D Chairman". James sat in one of the simple chairs, while Ben leaned back in his own leather one. "James," He stated "We both know what this is about, so I'll keep it quick. You can keep your Walther, but nothing else." Thomas handed James a small, pink piece of paper. "Now get out of my office."

James stood up, and stated one thing. "Tell Joseph that I know who really made this call." With that, he exited the room, slamming the door.

"Oh, and also!" He suddenly reopened the door. "Leo will love to hear about this one. Great move, Thomas."

Chanora

Capital of the K.O.T.S.K

As James walked down the street, muttering angrily under his breath, something whizzed past him on the road, causing him to jump. "WHAT IN THE...!?!?" He exclaimed, before the vehicle, a compact black sedan, slowed down and moved backwards. A door flew open, and O'Malley grinned at him from the inside.

"HELLO!"

"O'Malley, what did you do?"

"What do you mean?"

"You're driving really fast, and I'm pretty sure I hear sirens." James paused for a moment, before continuing. "Yep, those are definitely sirens. So, what did you do?" There was a dull thud, and a flash in the general area of the nearest military compound.

"Well, you know those impact detonated hand grenades you people made?"

"Yes?"

"Well," O'Malley frowned. "You really shouldn't invite me to your bases and have them in plain sight."

"What did you do?"

"Well, um, I wanted to know what they were, so I was pressing the button on one. Eventually I got angry and threw it at the others when it didn't do anything."

"You were pressing the fuse delay button, weren't you."

"Maybe."

"You knew exactly what those were."

"Um...yeah." O'Malley grinned. "Hey, they'll be fine once they rebuild."

"O'Malley! YOU COST THE C.O.D BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!" James paused, and smiled. "But hey, that's not my problem anymore. The hranach who took my job gets to deal with cleanup."

"What?" O'Malley stared at James. "They fired you?"

"Yep." James stated in reply, and O'Malley slammed his hands against the steering wheel of his car in anger.

"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" He swore violently. "YOU WERE THE ONLY NICE PERSON THERE!"  James groaned. "O'Malley, tolerating your idiotic insanity is not nice, it's being soft on you! Things are getting bad, so either you can mature, or you can leave Chanora, because things are getting bad!"

"What do you mean?" O'Malley recoiled at James's attack. "What do you mean getting bad?"

"I mean Dianara."

"What's that?"

"Ask Simmons." James turned and walked away. "It's not my job anymore."

Ramiara

One man left a small device in the Congress meeting place, a large ornate wooden room. He placed it on a table in the center, and watched as it shimmered and dissapeared. His suit was blue, with golden pin-stripes. His hair was brown, and on his side he carried a Walther P99 compact. He grinned slightly, then disappeared in a vortex of energy with a slight woosh.

Ramiara

Present day

As the Congress streamed in, there was a slight beeping from the central table where the C.O.D representatives would be sitting. The noise intensified and became faster, catching attention of the people present. And then, within a second, there was a massive explosion. The Congress building's windows shattered, and eventually the walls exploded outwards, smashing surrounding buildings. Fairly quickly, sirens sounded, approaching the crater left in the ground, and the massive dust cloud.

Thus began the first interplanetary war. Indeed, it would be discovered that the Kolhestrans, former allies of Ramiara, had started the war. Almost immediately, the C.O.D condemned this attack. The Shakarans remained neutral, Chanora allied itself with Ramiara, and Julritan helped Kolhestra. This war would have a massive effect, and eventually lead to the destruction of the C.O.D itself, the largest inter-dimensional organization in history.

And Dianara grinned. Well, it would have it it had lips. As it was, it merely took great pleasure in the impending chaos.
