So, there's this Ninjago story, related to my LU series, I have been thinking of writing for some time and at some point I did write a little of it. I happened to read it again recently and I felt the need to share it with someone. However, since I do not feel myself ready to post it on the Boards (I'd be incapable to keep writing this or alternatively some other story). So, I decided I might let you guys have a sneak peak into what I've already written (most of it, at least). So, here it is. Enjoy! I hope you don't mind my posting it here.

The Lost Records of Ninjago

Part 1: The Records of WaoFu

TEASER

Sensei Wu walked into the temple. Mishako had urgently called him to notify him that she had finally found the Temple of Waofu, a place of legends said to hold the lost records of Waofu. Mishako had been an adventuring woman inclined to discovering all the secrets archaeology held for as long as he knew her. Even in her old age, now, once there was peace again, she travelled to find yet more of these legendary locations Ninjago seemed to be full of.

And she had achieved again. Even all these years afterwards, there were still things she had not discovered, even though Wu had often commented she had left no stone unturned. But the Temple of Waofu had a special interest. It was said to be closely related to the First Spinjitsu Master, serving as a library or a study of a sort for as long as he had dwelled upon Ninjago.

Having been there to live only a small portion of his father’s life, he was always eager to learn more about him to shed some more light to the mysteries he’d left behind him. Thus, he had left the Monastery, which had after long been rebuilt, quite quickly to meet Mishako.

The Temple seemed to have been long abandoned and was in a state indicating its ancientness. He looked around and found Mishako in the centre surrounded by various ancient scrolls looking that fragile that Wu was afraid to touch them for fear they turned into dust.

“Wu, you’ve come!” Mishako noticed him raising her head from her work.

She still had the same look of excitement in her eyes which Wu had seen on her face the first time he’d met her when she had discovered the Monastery. A whole lot of memories flooded Wu’s mind. Some were happy, some not so much. He had lived so much. And it seemed like that time was so much time ago. Yet, Wu always reminded himself when he thought that, that time at least had a name even all those years back.

“I’m here!” he said with his old voice “So, what have you found?”

“Wu, you won’t believe this! This is amazing! Or terrible! I don’t know what to say! It really seems to give a thoroughly different idea of the story we know of the First Spinjitsu Master!”

“So, what do these scrolls say?” Wu asked intrigued.

Four ninja were waiting for their Sensei to appear from his room in the Monastery they lived in. They were worried about him. He had returned some time ago, but had not spoken just rushed into his room to get some rest. His apprentices were now gathered outside his room waiting in agony to learn what had happened.

“What do you think happened?” the ninja wearing a ki that had the colour of electric blue finally broke the silence.

The other looked at him. His worried glance was reflected on their own eyes.

“I have never seen Sensei that tired! It must have been a very terrible fight, I presume!” the ninja in white responded after a while.

They all knew that the white ninja had been the first one to be chosen as the Sensei’s apprentice –though by very little–, so that meant something to them.

“We have to admit it! I’ve already said that Sensei’s gotten old. He might be greater than all of us combined, but he does not have the endurance he used to. If he faced him one to one, it’s logical for him to be in this state!” the only ninja to be wearing the traditional black commented.

“Whatever happened, we will only know when he gets up!” the red ninja concluded.

“But will he even get up?” the blue ninja was afraid.

“What? You think he might…?” the black ninja didn’t even finish his sentence in realisation of the terrible meaning of it.

“I don’t think so!” the white ninja argued, though he didn’t seem too sure “Our Sensei is tougher than that!”

“Let’s hope!” the blue ninja said and they remained silent again.

The three of the ninja had what we would call an Asian look, especially the black and the white one. The white ninja and the red one were quite short, but the black one, who had a muscular build, was somewhat taller. All three of those had black hair and the black ninja had a thin braid coming down from his head.

Yet, the blue ninja was quite different. While the rest belonged to the people of Ninjago, the blue ninja had the obvious look of a Figorian. The Figorians were a people that had come from the Galaz, a wholly different face of Crux, only about half a century ago. And before that they were said to have come from a different planet, but that was very long ago if it was and the people of Ninjago doubted it was true.

The ninja was taller than the rest, had brown hair, his eyes were a colour he called imagination blue and he had a paler less yellowish complex. But there were other things that seemed off about him, too. His stance, his expressions, his accent, the way he moved his hands when he talked. And none of the other ninja had ever seen any nose like his. There were many little details about him that set him apart, but Figorians weren’t rare in Ninjago anymore, so people had had to get used to them. Especially, the ninja had formed special bonds of brotherhood with him that was rare between people of Ninjago and Figorians, even though they got along well most of the times.

On each of the ninja’s clothes there was a symbol that a knowing eye would recognise as the symbols for Fire, Earth, Lightning and Ice. Indeed the ninja were people to have unlocked elemental powers. Their Sensei had found them and chosen them to become the Masters of Spinjitsu that would defend Ninjago from perils to come. There was especially a danger that had been worrying the man for a long time, a Shadow in the west. Thus, he had found four men who had shown the potential of greatness and had guided them to unlock their powers and taught them Spinjitsu, a fighting art of his own invention. Some might consider him the First Master of Spinjitsu, but he was not. He had not mastered Spinjitsu; he had created it. It was his apprentices that all combined made the First Master of Spinjitsu.

In the end, the apprentices got too tired and one by one they fell asleep on the floor where they had been sitting. It was like that that Sensei Waofu found them when he got out of his room.

“Wake up, you fools!” he said kicking the four men’s heads, but not very hard “Just because I was so tired you didn’t have to exhaust yourselves in support, too!”

Yet, the old man was not as angry as he sounded. He looked at them with kind tired eyes, actually feeling touched by his apprentices’ devotion. The four ninja shot up surprised by this turn of events. When had they fallen asleep? Waofu laughed seeing them in this state.

“Hello, Sensei! We’re glad you’re okay! We were afraid you might…” the blue ninja stopped mid-sentence.

“Do not worry, Elothus! I’ve been better, but I’m still alive!” their Sensei replied.

Despite the late of hour and their tiredness, all four ninja looked at their Sensei expectantly anticipating for a story worth their agony and wait. When Waofu didn’t speak, the white ninja said “Sooo, what happened? Did you find him?”

          Sensei Waofu sighed “I did!”

The red and black ninja gasped, even though they expected it to be so.

“You found the Overlord? And what happened? Did you defeat him?” the red ninja asked with a bewildered look.

“I am afraid not, Kasai! I’m afraid I’ve gotten old. The Overlord has been very clever! For fear of my full force, he had been waiting operating in secret until recently. But ever since he started working openly, once he was sure I’d gotten old, he’d been expecting me. I fell in a trap. I was diminished to something very small for a moment. I barely escaped. It was a hard fight! Thank brick there was Rujio to help me. Otherwise, I could have been destroyed today. At least, I think I have injured him enough, too! But I’m too old! This struggle of minds has exhausted me!”

“And what about his Stone Army? Is it true?” the black ninja enquired.

“As true as I am, I’m afraid, Lee! Made of indestructible stone, however the Overlord could have managed that! He’s been building them in secret all these years!”

Lee gulped at this information. He had hoped it had only been rumours. There had been various sources claiming to have seen this powerful invincible Stone Warriors coming from the Dark Land in the west of Ninjago. According to them, they were causing trouble in several villages, but it was only a matter of time before they engaged in a real battle to conquer all of Ninjago.

“Sensei, might I ask what exactly the Overlord is?” Elothus asked.

“What sort of question is this? He’s the Overlord! Period!” Kasai said.

“The Overlord is said to be a powerful Spirit, but no one really knows much about him!” the Sensei disagreed with Kasai considering the question worth answering.

          “Could he be a Malrith?”

“I was thinking he could be, actually!”

“What is a Malrith?” the white ninja wondered.

“According to the Figorian tradition, Figrithen are powerful entities of Imagination that are beyond matter. You could call them spirits, though it’s not the most proper term for them. Despite not being material, they can take physical forms to serve their causes much like we can wear clothes! They are said to help minifigures in dark times. I’ve got a pen friend, Figroth, who says he’s met a Figrith woman. However, if a Figrith is turned, becoming chaotic, it becomes a Malrith, a destructive entity serving Chaos” Elothus explained.

The rest of the ninja contemplated that for a while. The idea of Figrithen and Malrithen was strange to them, though what was stranger was that their Sensei knew about them. Didn’t he come from Ninjago? Why would he be familiar with Figorian traditions?

“But now you have a mission, you four!” Waofu said “You have all trained very well and have unlocked your full potential! However, elemental powers are still hard to control. I have come to the conclusion that you need a tool to help you control them. A weapon to channel your energy! There is only one person I know who could forge the appropriate weapons for you: Myrror the Black Smith!”

“The Black Smith?! Isn’t he supposed to carry a deadly curse?” Lee argued.

“Even if it isn’t so, it’s not like he is a person of trust!” the white ninja added.

“Yet, he is the only one who can help you, Aisu! Tomorrow, you’ll head out to seek him! So, go get some rest”

“You keep saying you, Sensei” Kasai noticed “Won’t you come with us?”

“I’m too tired and old for this! Today was only a reminder of the end being nigh! I won’t be able to help you in this! You will have to do on your own powers from now on! That’s what you’ve been trained for! I won’t always be with you! That’s why I trained you anyway! Get some sleep!” Waofu got back to his room.

The ninja looked at each other in desperation. Their Sensei’s words had not calmed them a bit. Yet, they went to bed as he instructed them. They would have to get up early tomorrow…
