So that Wiz Ardon doesn't mark this as irrelevant AGAIN, I'm gonna do some SPOILERS and explain this in a nutshell. Chanora has actually been in contact with the KOTOS Dimension for centuries, and the introduction of the Maelstrom into the Chanoran Dimension was because of an incident involving the Baron Typhonous and an interdimensional portal.
