... I have no explaination for the footsore mountains. If the first mention of that is in a book of legends that Lady Jonna read, maybe that was a fictional name for the real mountains, and it stuck. :P | ... Concerning the Mountains, (Atheleas, Footsore, Scary, Fire)
Talmids original Map actually labels a small part of the overall range as the Scary Mountains. This part is the 'most scary' part, and it would be in this part that Silverstine Keep is, as well as deeper, darker, mysteries. The only man having gone into the very heart of it being Stirling's Grandfather, who lived an outrageously long time, and a long time ago, now. (If you'll remember, Stirling mentions his lineage in Act 2 of TRH, when faced with the blockade.)
Overall, the whole northern rage could be called Atheleas Mountains, OR that could be a small portion that has Athelas on it.
The Fire Hills could refer specifically to the particular Hills and Mountains that light up with Fire Beacons. I assume some of the foothills also have some beacons to carry the signal in deep fog.Â
... I have no explaination for the footsore mountains. If the first mention of that is in a book of legends that Lady Jonna read, maybe that was a fictional name for the real mountains, and it stuck. :P
