Talmid Show is a series of short animated videos portraying the adventures of Fleet Captain Talmid and the Talmidon Crew in the 26th Century. Installments of the series were produced between 2011 and 2019. There are three complete seasons, each with an intro and 6 episodes, and one completed movie.
An uncompleted season called Season 0, that began production in 2017, is set before the events of Season 1 and is a self-parody of those early episodes. The last completed Talmid Show Episode, Season 0 Episode 2, was appropriately released on April Fools Day 2019.
A second movie titled The Wrath of Khanye, parodying Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, was planned in 2018 but is unofficially cancelled.

=== Principal Photography ===
Filming characteristically and almost exclusively takes place in LEGO Digital Designer, in either its Build and View modes, using the program's screenshot function for both space and interior scenes. Animation is achieved through either incremental subject or camera adjustment through a sequence of screenshots played back at an accelerated framerate, in the style of stop motion animation, or panning layers at different velocities for the illusion of motion.
=== Voiceover === | |||
Vocals were recorded on Audacity and acting was primarily performed by talmid, Sam Mercury, and Ibuggabugga. Artificial vocals were recorded from voice synthesizers Microsoft Speech and Sitepal. Other voice actors include guest stars Bubseylegoguy and Wiz Ardon.
=== | === Sound Effects ===
[ | Star Trek audio effects were largely sourced from those used in Star Trek Legacy: The Ultimate Universe Mod. Other effects are used from various YouTube videos.
=== | === Music === | ||
[ | Background music was largely sourced from LEGO Universe. Other music came from Star Wars.
=== | === Editing === | ||
All Talmid Show releases up to and including Season 3 Episode 5 were edited in and exported from Windows Movie Maker 2.1, the latest version for Microsoft Windows XP. Visual effects were painted frame by frame in Gimp 2.8 or utilized Movie Maker's transitions, sometimes both at the same time. As Movie Maker lacked multiple layer video editing, motion of multiple objects on separate trajectories was accomplished by combining multiple sources of screenshot-sequences over single final image-sequences.
Season 3 Episode 6 and subsequent releases were edited in Camtasia 9, taking advantage of that software's multiple layer video editing to obsolete frame by frame visual effects and most screenshot-based stopmotion, speeding up the editing process and improving production quality and consistency.

Production
Principal Photography
Filming characteristically and almost exclusively takes place in LEGO Digital Designer, in either its Build and View modes, using the program's screenshot function for both space and interior scenes. Animation is achieved through either incremental subject or camera adjustment through a sequence of screenshots played back at an accelerated framerate, in the style of stop motion animation, or panning layers at different velocities for the illusion of motion.
Voiceover
Vocals were recorded on Audacity and acting was primarily performed by talmid, Sam Mercury, and Ibuggabugga. Artificial vocals were recorded from voice synthesizers Microsoft Speech and Sitepal. Other voice actors include guest stars Bubseylegoguy and Wiz Ardon.
Sound Effects
Star Trek audio effects were largely sourced from those used in Star Trek Legacy: The Ultimate Universe Mod. Other effects are used from various YouTube videos.
Music
Background music was largely sourced from LEGO Universe. Other music came from Star Wars.
Editing
