Battle at the Block Yards (Dimensional War)

Summary

Following the upset at Avant Gardens, Maelstrom Dimension air and ground forces were deployed in the Block Yards with the goal of saturating the small worlds and gaining strategic positions on the rocketway to Nimbus Station. Maelstrom forces advanced through the Block Yards claiming empty properties and overrunning those with too few defenders. Small battles were fought in heavily populated properties such as the Fun Party Place.

Beck Strongheart, displaced commander of the immediately previously destroyed Sentinel Base Camp, assumed general command of the Avant Gardens defense force including reinforcements from Nimbus Station. Under Strongheart scorched-earth tactics were applied.

Empty and evacuated Block Yards around those already claimed by the Maelstrom were bombed to oblivion by the Avant Gardens air force, limiting the Maelstrom's territorial expansion and staving advancement, while Nexus Force space battleships were recalled from the Outer Worlds to take the battle into the infected zone and engage the Maelstrom there.

Plans were drafted including blockading the new Maelstrom zone or trying to wholly decimate it from a distance with a possible superweapon, as concerns rose that the level of Maelstrom in the Block Yards now rivaled that on Crux Prime. However once the battleships arrived, Strongheart was surprised to find that the Maelstrom forces had vanished, and victory was declared in their absence.
