Chapter 6: Plan B

Dianara

Concerning the effect of entropy on Dianara: it requires some understanding of science. Entropy refers to the energy that is consumed by creatures, and therefore, lost. However, energy that is lost to entropy is not lost forever. It goes to one location. This location is Dianara. Every time a rabbit jumps, a rooster crows, a duck quacks, a goose does, well, whatever those nasty monsters do, it gains energy. Thus, it is, to say the least, dangerous. It possesses a greater sum of energy than any creature can imagine.

Nimbus Station

Food Plaza

As the Mechs fired at James, he was forced to duck behind a vendor's counter, while plasma ripped apart various structures. Plastic flew everywhere, and alarms continued to blare. At this point, several Nexus Force soldiers from various factions busted through the doors, and opened fire. This did not exactly work for them. Their shots, varying from lead to arrows to plasma rounds, all bounced the mechs, who then returned fire. They were far more effective.

"James, we can't hold them!" Theo cried over the commotion.

James lunged over the counter of the vendor, as it exploded behind him. He slid into cover with Theo, rather like a baseball player slides onto the plate. "Agreed. We need to get everyone out of here."

"Well, yes," Theo remarked, "That's obvious. I was going to ask how we do that?"

James chucked a smoke grendade over the table. "Follow me, and I'll show you." And with that, he stood up, and began yelling orders. "Hey you lot, with the fancy guns! It's not working! We need to fall back. Throw some flashes and smokes, it should disorient them and throw off their thermal sensors long enough for us to escape!"

The soldiers gazed at him oddly, before Theo reassured them. "He's on our side! Just do it, then move!" He turned to James. "Where to?"

"Shuttle bay. We leave, and we do it quickly. You get the Leaders, make sure they help us. Also, try to see if Simmons has some ridiculous contraption that can help us."

"Gotcha." Theo ran off. James turned back to the soldiers.

"Alright, you lot. Run off to the shuttles! I'll seal the doors. Also, tell anyone you see to follow you. MOVE!"

As the Nexus Force soldiers rushed from the plaza in dis-array, James calmly exited, chucked in a flash bang, then closed the door, locking it with the key pad next to it. At this point, he thought for a moment, then rushed down the hallway to the left, hoping to gain access to the armory. Unfortunately, he ran into a stromling pack, and was forced to open fire. He shot three of five, punched one of the remaining two, and dropped a grenade into the ribcage of another. The explosion smashed both, and also drew the attention of any nearby Maelstrom soldiers.

And nearby Maelstrom units were more than happy to convene upon him. He had to rush down several corridors to make it to the armory, but his search was not in vain. In the room were racks full of rifles, a crate of grenades, shelves of sidearms, boxes of ammo, and countless varieties of blades. "Well, this could be helpful."

And with that comment, James jumped into action. He made a rather large mess, digging through all the weapons, but eventually found what he was looking for. A long, thick, nondescript, tube with a trigger and a top feeding magazine containing large cylinders, as well a sight at an angle. "This WILL be helpful!" James grinned, and turned the safety off.Â
