As such, he wields various knightly weapons into battle, though he prefers anything that can pack a punch.

APPEARANCE:

Loden typically wears casual clothing, with his signature item of clothing being a grey jacket (that has a bunch of useful pockets, and can be easily cast off in a duel), complete with small smiley-face badge, worn over a shirt - generally loose articles of clothing that hide his muscles. However, he is also known to wear more militaristic clothing because, after all, everyone loves a man in uniform. The muscles themselves are fairly significant - his physique can be summed up with "tall and broad-shouldered", and he's quite physically strong. His hair is dirty blonde, and unkempt - though he always ensures that it's short enough to fit inside a helmet with no difficulty. Despite the seemingly casual nature of his appearance, he always takes great pains to ensure that (at least to a certain extent) he can be considered presentable. His eyes are amber.

PERSONALITY:

Loden is the joker of the pack. His humour is mostly dry and witty, with a hint of sarcasm, and he often winds up the people around him. His lax attitude is detrimental when he is confronted by danger, but he has the strength - both physical and mental - to power through the dire situations that he seems to find himself in. His vanity (a trait he possesses in spades) often acts as an off-putting front, helping his opponents to underestimate him - and the flirting often distracts people as well.

ABILITIES AND POWERS:

Loden has no powers, and few special abilities. He is very good with people and knowledgeable in social areas, and is skilled with a multitude of different weapons. He is also in good physical shape due to the harsh training one goes through to enter any sort of militaristic profession, and is surprisingly muscular despite appearances. In later life, his knowledge of psychology, as well as his experiences with several revolutionary groups, provide him with a wily cunning that helps him to come up with solutions to problems and make deductions.

“You know, I remember a friend of mine who’d just fill this room that he had with, like, creatures. Like, he’d pick up an insect or something and bring it back with him. And he could sit there for hours, surrounded by stuff I personally found just gross, not caring about anything. Kinda made me realise that everyone has a different definition of peace.”- Loden, proving a point.

TRIVIA:

• Loden was born a day and a year before his best friend, Iamos.
• Loden is bisexual.
• As with all the other main characters of Foes and Heirs, Loden's name alludes to a colour - green.
• Loden's surname, Adalwin, is Germanic in origin and means "noble friend".
• The yellow smiley-face badge sewn onto Loden's jacket is a reference to Watchmen, where the most recognisable emblem of the series is The Comedian's yellow smiley-face pin.
• Loden is ambidextrous, having been obsessed enough with the concept of dual-wielding when younger that he taught himself how to handle objects equally efficiently in both hands.
  • I didn't even realise earlier, but apparently dual-wielding is a euphemism for bisexuality, with a Japanese word for dual-wielding doubling as one for a bisexual man, so... appropriate? :P
