New page

-Methuselah is not an ''<u>E</u>nchanter'' in the same way as Wiz, no. This is merely an <u>e</u>nchanter. He enchants. He's not a magician capable of manipulating magic to his whims. He, and his preceseccors, are *very* specialized in making sure everyone remains sane. :P

-Eventually, the word smash will no longer randomly pop up. I assure you, I'm not activly using it anymore. This is how long some of this story's been cooking. :P

-No, Stir does not know this. But even if he did, that only be more reason to try and recruit them.Â

-.... Having just mapped a wizards tower for D&D, I realize this is very true. :P

-Hmmm. I hadn't thought of this, but in hindsight, Jellyfish certainly would know this. And keep in mind, the Resistance has been fighting the Rogues for a few years now. Before Jellyfish, they probably just destroyed them, not knowing how to deactivate the trackers. Now with Jellyfish, he's kept a few, having successfully deactivated them. (Probably in various haphazard ways.)

-Come to think of it, I've generally gone with the tech curse's 'by piece' outlook, but when Kal wrote that line, the thought didn't even occur to me that it was a whole blanket. Still, there's so many possible reasons for the tech curse to misbehave in Ankoria: The Curse of Ankoria, Methuselah's protection against it, ancient energies... Or the tech curse just has that potential ability in the first place...?

-I do remember that conversation about them potentially stashing it. I don't remember the outcome, but especially not coming to any definite conclusion. So upon coming close to the release of this story, I weighed the potential foreshadowing and tie-in against... none? and figured it would be better to put it in than leave it. Also, despite all the danger that Strider finds himself in, I've come to the conclusion that he wouldn't trust anyone or anyplace to keep it safe more than his own person.

-Still never read the books. :ashamed:

-I talked with you a little bit about this in the Discord. To summarize: Don't worry, there's more to this minor plot-hook; It's not an unlimited energy source(otherwise the NF would've used it, right?) ; there is plenty that Jellyfish does not understand, and the story will return to this, so I don't want to spoil anything.

-Every single one of these trees is black and ashed and barren, (Like an even more bleak Mirkwood)Â but yeah... I actually agree with you here, there are a lot of trees. Still, it was important for the scenes we were doing. Most likely, this is a particularly forested area to the west of Vlad's. Maybe I should put it on the map with some black 'forest' spray like other forests on the map...?

- *does a litte research*Â *Sighs*Â "Ok, so we've made a collective boo-boo here, but it's fine."
Soo. On Talmid's original map, the map ended at the northern edge of Morcia. There's the bridge on that map, labeled as "Bridge to Unknown." Which makes sense, the map ends there, we didn't have more plans at the time to map it, yada yada. Then we have your map, which expanded it. I think I can make out on the picture that you call it "Troll's Bridge."....
I didn't know that. HOWEVER, it seems no one else did either, because on the Harold Map, or whatever we want to call the one we're using now... It's again called "Bridge to Unknown."Â
And now it's written into 'canon' with this story.
So.
My theory (and reasoning for why I kept the name in the story) is that this is just one of those places that was named very shortsightedly by explorers, and then stuck. Stirling potentially doesn't know this, either, but the Bridge is broken, so it's poetic now as well, since to take the bridge over the edge would be to fall into the ultimate unkown of death. .... Ok, that's a bit grim, but that's my theory/patchup.

- It's a bummer that the akward pacing is so obvious.... We ended up writing two POVs seperatly and tried to mash them together... I guess it didn't work, but it's interesting that it's the Chapter breaks that caused it... Maybe I'll talk to Kal about it and we can try and smooth it out, or change the chapter breaks.... But it's good to know that this particular expirimental writing trick <u>didn't </u>work.

-It's amazing how fast a one-line gimmick character becomes so fleshed out. We based Kevin's entire character off of his first line, read aloud. Not sure if it was Kal who wrote it, and me who read it aloud, or vice-versa, but either way, that defined the entire character moving forward. :P

-I actually tend to agree with this! Thus why it's not a VL Flaregun, but a basic Pirate Flintlock pistol. Everyone gets one in Gnarled Forest. ;)Â Then again, multiple times now, KOTOS has been seen using Paradox gear... Maybe not effectivly though, so I wouldnt' worry about that. Either way, this isn't Perry's faction gear, it's a basic flintlock pistol that Perry's Pack had. And depending on what Theo decides on with James&Strider adventures (And if he doesn't decide, I'm going to make my own fanfic of the fanfic pretty soon here! :P ) Strider could have more practice with pistols than he'd of liked! (Hmm, yessss... This actually is full of possibilities! But first, I gotta finish the current story load.)

- I'll have to re-read that and give it some thought.

- Right. Well. :embarressed: You'd think by now I'd get it right, writing it right all the time... Like I do... :P But then again... It's almost tradition by now. Also, I'm going to try and get off the hook by pointing out "The Speeling Manuscript", "The Most Exotic of Rugs"... and whatever comes from "Arabians" :D

-Yes. I'm- wait. Well, the best way to answer that would be, "how did you interpret it?" because if you interpreted it the way I and Kal meant it to be interpreted, then language has done it's job, rules or no rules. Still, now I'm not sure if it's correct according to the rules. I'd have to re-read it in full context, and now it's a sticky note high on my pile of sticky notes to look at. (first one is to get through these comments! :P )

-He means both. He means space-ship first, as he's thinking aloud, and then he means sea-ship when he says sea-faring. It's intentionally confusing. Stirling isn't trying to be clear.

-I don't know what to tell ya about this one. It's true, there's not a lot of confirmed dead. Presumably a lot of soldiers, but specifically of KOTOS, yeah, theres not a lot, other than Legoboy. :PÂ Maybe someone should do a story on that. A secret rebel memorial at the skyfalls or something.

-This falls more to Kal to explain. Kal assures me theres a RL reason for Matheeas's admittedly knockoff name, but I didn't get the whole story at the time. Maybe later. As for the Nexus Force, I'm not certain on that either. Jellyfish is certainly a good source for most of it: He can be very informational when he wants to be. As for Kal's backstory... Hmm, let's say... The Nexus Force was not mentioned ''by name...''

-I love how Strider always gets beat up. No matter what story he's in, he is nearly garunteed to be Hollywood beaten to death. >:) Yet, he cannot die, as decreed by various members. :P

-I'll be sure to notify Jonna, though I think such a meeting is bound to happen with SA on the way. Who knows, maybe they've met breifly in the past 15 years... I'll have to ask RL Jonna what she thinks.

-Well, for Kal, that appropriatness would be not giving his last name, I suppose. Also, I think Kal has sympathy for this guy...? Also, Stirling is more relaxed with Kalaren becase... well, Kal's bested him twice now, with that robot arm, so in Stirling's head, he has no other choice but to be on Kal's good side. Also, as mentioned, Kal's reminicent of how kindly Egbert treated him, and wants to extend that same kindness to Strider, I think. Especially as Strider seems to relax and co-operate.

Sometimes it does come off like that, but then I simply remind myself that this is how you show your enjoyment of a story: By.... I can't think of the right word... breaking it down? picking it apart? Analyzing closely.  It's a character trait of yours. It can sometimes seems harsh at first, but I'm comfortable with reading it because I know you mean well when you write it. It's constructive critisisim, and somtimes I wish I could be as constructivly critical of your stories to help you like you help me. :) And in this case, Kal as well. :thumbs-up:
